Invitation to the launch of SERAP’s latest report

Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) is pleased to invite you to the launch of its latest report titled: “The Ignored Pandemic: How Corruption in the Health, Education and Water Sectors is Plunging Poor Nigerians further into Poverty” scheduled to hold on Thursday, September 2, 2021, 10am prompt.

The report documents the state of health, water and educational infrastructures across the country, and the impact of corruption and poverty on access to quality education, healthcare, and clean and avoidable water in Nigeria.

The event will feature presentation of the report, a panel discussion, and an interactive session on the theme: “Invisible Victims of Corruption: Ensuring Justice for Poor Nigerians Denied Access to Health, Education & Water as Public Goods and Services.”

The report makes several recommendations to governments and authorities at all levels, including the government of President Muhammadu Buhari; heads of MDAs; the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister for Justice; the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC); the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related offences (ICPC); the National Assembly and State Governments; as well as recommendations to foreign governments and donor agencies.

The ultimate aim is to use the report’s recommendations to promote transparency and accountability in the education, health, and water sectors, encourage citizens’ active participation in the fight against corruption in these sectors, as well as promote improved access of Nigerians to education, health, and water as matters of human rights, and public goods and services.
